"STONE" . . . AUSSIE BIKE FLICK CLASSIC

1974 . . . MY FIRST YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, "YELLOWBRICK ROAD" IS TOP OF THE CHARTS AND "STONE" HITS THE CINEMAS . . . Z BIKE FEVER OFFICIALLY TAKES HOLD !!!!!

The Z900A became a classic the moment it hit the showroom floors in '73 out here in the Antipodes, we'd just got used to the everyday, commonplace sight of CB750 K1 thru K3 when all of a sudden Kwaka releases the sexy as hell Z900, a tank like Jayne Mansfield's tits, an inline four that made the Honda seem mild and the killer set of 4 into 4 pipes just waiting to be slid down the road due to the behemoth's typical Kawasaki front end non handling characteristics . . . .
When "Stone" was released it was the "Mad Max" of its day, every Aussie bloke was talking it up, especially due to the astronomical number of Z's that featured in it . . . . reality was only about a fifth of the bikes in the film were real 900's, the rest were well hidden and disguised 650's and, I think, even 400's.
Nonetheless and needless to say, the film went gangbusters and the "Stone Legend" was born and became instant biker folklore, a lot of it due to the scene I've pilfered from PooTube here, The Funeral Ride.
If you haven't seen the movie yet you need to get your shit wired tight and check it out, dated, yes, worth a perve ??? Abso-fucking-lutely !!!!

***** INTERESTING FOOTNOTE, IT WAS THE OBVIOUS INFLUENCE OF "STONE" THAT WAS THE IMPETUS BEHIND THE YOUNG EX MILITARY GUYS BACK FROM VIETNAM AND FEELING, AS THEY DID IN THE STATES ALSO, RIGHTLY DISAFFECTED WITH THE GOVERNMENT AND SOCIETY, WHO TOOK THE MOTIFFS FROM THE FILM AND FOUNDED THE VIETNAM VETERANS M.C . . . . STILL GOING STRONG TODAY . . . . . GOOD ON YOU GUYS, SEE YOU ON ANZAC DAY !!!
