HUSKER DU - "DON'T WANNA KNOW IF YOU ARE LONELY" . . . . A BAND OF IMMENSELY INFLUENTIAL PROPORTIONS, I FIGURE, ALONG WITH DINOSAUR JR, SONIC YOUTH, MUDHONEY AND THE PIXIES, WITHOUT THEM, NO 'SEATTLE SOUND' . . . . SADLY, SEEMINGLY LARGELY FORGOTTEN THESE DAYS AND NEVER GIVEN THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE . . . . A WICKED TUNE FROM THE MOULDY MAN AND THE BAND . . . . TURN UP, TUNE OUT AND GET EMOTIONALLY SELFISH !!!!!

I know that Bob Mould went onto to form 'Sugar' while dodging the barbs and epithets from one time close mate, co-writer and fellow Husker Doer, Grant Hart, but have no idea what either are up to these days . . . . it was a hateful, bitter bust up too by all reports of the day . . . . the sort of shit that can really only happen in scenarios like being in an intense, tight, living in each others pockets existence as only a band on the road and in the studio can provide . . . . anyway, enough of that shit . . . . hope they're both still in the land of the living and maybe not hating each other as much as they used to . . . . if anyone has some info regarding this, please let me know . . . . sorry about the absence of the 'Umlauts' above the letter 'U' in the bands name . . . . I can't do everything !!!

  1. Glad to see some praise for some of my hometown heavies! Husker du was actually a Minneapolis, Minnesota powerhouse. While I don't know about the last 5 years or so...I did run a live soundboard for shows that included Grant Hart on a few occasions while he did his solo songwriter thing...not too bad, but I don't think it's a full time gig for him. As for Bob Mould, believe it or don't, the last I heard he was writing scripts for the steroid soap opera of professional wrestling!! Apparently he genuinely loves it, too...don't ask, I don't know.

Truth, my friend, truly IS stranger than fiction.

PS - I did once get high with Humpty Hump from Digital Underground after a show at a rich mostly white private college. Seriously.

As for the Mouldy One and wrestling, nothing would really surprise me there man, great to find that shit out and from you of all people . . . as you and HUnter S said, truth is definitely stranger than fiction.

  3. Cool, I saw 'em with Black Flag in '84 and '85..my two biggest brushes with fame at this time included almost getting hit in the face by a bathroom door by Bill Stevenson and getting Rollins to sign my arm; later, when I wanted to speak with him after the show, Kira told me to get away and let him air out, lest I get smashed in the pie-hole.

However, I guess that would've made a better story.

"Liar" I believe it was, kind went off old Hank after that. Got my phone battery on charge ready for deployment . . . stay tuned, love your scoot.
