1963 TRIUMPH TR6SC RESTO FROM HELL . . . . I'LL COME CLEAN AND OWN UP TO HAVING SOMETHING OF A 'PURPLE FETISH' BEFORE WE GO ANY FURTHER . . . . THE FACTORY PAINT JOB ON THIS INSANO TROPHY HAS BEEN MY FAVE COLOUR SCHEME SINCE FIRST SEEING IT ON A BONNIE IN THE LATE EIGHTIES.

I used a purple pen all through high school, I still paint my left thumbnail purple, [the whole hand just takes too much friggin time these days] and the tank on my Skirtster is a two tone purple metallic, as I said, I like the colour . . . . ipso facto, the stock shade turned out of Meriden in the twighlight years of Eddy Turners terrific twins was a real pool of drool for me, dee fucking liscious !!!!

The '63 year models were a benchmark in T120 and TR6 production, not only for the sexy as hell paint options, it was the first year of the unit construction motor, no longer the little parallel twin kept seperate from the gearbox, the whole kit and kaboodle was mated together in one handsome unit, obviously allowing for a more compact bike with a much more pleasing and intergrated appeal.

The American market, led by the legendary Johnson Motors crew, were able to dictate certain styling and performance options that were unique to the lucky bugger Yanks who by this stage were winning on flat tracks, desert races, scrambles events and road racing . . . . from cams and followers, gearing, carbs and jet kits, wide 'bars, guards/fenders, pipe options and more, although a good deal of hot kit was being turned out in the States itself.

The highside pipes fitted with the small peashooter mufflers were one option for the TR6 but if you wanted the full fuck off competition only model you got the bloody gorgeously rawkus, straight through versions as fitted to the unbelievably stunning restoration in this video, the lucky bastard who owns the beast has very tastefully retro fitted a period correct [I hate the term but sometimes it's the only one to utilise] Lucas "Prince of Darkness" lamp that was obviously not part of its original delivery turnout.

I love my sporty and can't wait to get the '74 Shovel on the road and completed but, whenever I see a Trumpy in this kind of nick, not that I'm huge on dead stock pristine resto jobs either, I always get a bit maudlin at having got rid of the three that I had the pleasure of owning, riding, breaking, fixing, [with much help on more serious fuck ups] tweaking and cleaning over nearly half of my life . . . . I ain't ever selling another bike as long as I live !!!

***** Thanks to "TheTerryMcDonald" for posting this superb critter on PooTube and I hope you have at least given it a right flogging on the odd occasion.
