HALL AND OATES "SHE'S GONE" 1973/76 . . . . I'LL FESS UP NOW, I'M A HALL AND OATES FAN AND IT WAS THIS LITTLE NUMBER THAT DID IT FOR ME . . . . IT'S ALWAYS BEEN FASHIONABLE TO PUT SHIT ON 'BLUE EYED' SOUL ACTS, HOWEVER . . . . FUCK FASHION !!!! THIS ODE TO LOSING THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE IS UNIVERSAL IN ITS TRUTH . . . . TRIPPY EL CHEAPO CLIP TOO, DIG THE THREADS AND ACCESSORIES, PERIOD CORRECT FOR SURE !!

I suppose it's because a lot of, if not all, whiteys who attempt the 'soul thang' just look so fucking soft, or perhaps it's because the male of the species, by and large, won't let themselves succumb to the overt emotion of the loss of love publicly . . . . "I ain't gonna cry over that shit man, hell, no way !!!" . . . . but the reality is the feelings and emotion expressed in songs like this original version of "She's Gone", not the '76 remake, are as universal and similar as the nature of love itself.

Maybe it's a more white male thing to gravitate toward obviously butch 'come fuck me wench' stuff like Led Zep or Ted Nugent, both of whom I love, but the more obvious emotive narratives of material such as this, tend to engender a vibe that many guys won't openly acknowledge . . . . to do so would be putting yourself out there for a bagging by your mates and cronies, an afront to your sense of manhood and masculinity, being in touch with your inner self in public just ain't so cool . . .

I don't give a flying, fairy fuck, good music is good music, all styles, all colours, all ages, as long as it's good, rule out Knickelback, Dautry and a whole truck load of others immediately, and Hall and Oates have always been good . . . . unbelievable melodies, fine vocals, great players and constantly sound production, in the world of 'Blue Eyed Soul", these guys are the fucking real deal kings !!!!
