ReplyDeleteJust found out while on duty today. Damn. That really fuckin sucks. I told someone about it and they responded by referring to the Beastie Boys as "some fuckin boy band, but not as bad as Nsync"! No he wasn't kidding and no he wasn't trying to make a weak pun.

Pat, good to hear from you today in particular brother, still feeling kind of weird, just keep comin back to it . . . "boy band", it'd be funny if wasn't so sad, I reckon a lot of folk who aren't so into music like many of us are, just wrote them off as a bunch of loser white boys doing dumbarsed rap/hip hop without knowing about their depth ot catalogue, the significance of their place in music evolution and how widely they were loved and respected. Here's to Mr Yauch, also Mr Diamond, Mr Ad-Rock who will be feelin the pain, and to you mate, cheers bro, be safe down there.
