THE HELLACOPTERS - "(GOTTA GET SOME ACTION) NOW !!" . . . . CHANNELING THE COSMIC CONNECTIONS OF THE MC5, RADIO BIRDMAN AND SATAN THESE GUYS KICKED ROCK AND ROLL IN THE ARSE WHEN IT WAS MOST NEEDED . . . . ALONG WITH 'ROXETTE', 'ABBA', 'THE CARDIGANS' AND 'PETER, BJORN AND JOHN', MY FAVOURITE SWEDISH ACT . . . . FROM ANYWHERE COME TO THINK OF IT !!!

The late nineties/early noughties seems such a fucking intergalactic blur away to me now, 'metal damage, brain damage . . . . he he he', no wonder the old mind ain't quite so functional as it once was, but, as they say, goodtimes !!!

The 'Copters from hell arrived on our shores care of the J's, radio station Triple J, not long after the release of 'Supershitty to the Max' in about '96/'97, Aussies instantly took to them, what with a history of bands like Birdman, New Race, The Scientists all paying homage to The Stooges, The MC5, The Dolls and The Ramones, it was only natural . . . .

That love affair still exists today, along with 'Millencolin', 'The Hives' et al, the 'Hellacopters' hold a special place in the hearts of their fans Downunder . . . . they toured heaps, played whitehot, sweaty, honest rock shows, always appreciated the crowds and generally seemed to love the nature of the Oz way of doin things . . . .

I got to 'see' em only once, in Queensland, in either '99 or 2000, as I stated previously, the specific recollections are a bit hazy, particularly for that gig, too much of everything for too long before the show . . . . but I'm always reminded by my mates I was with that not only did I miss most of the show but that they fully rocked it . . . . and if you can't believe your buddies, who the fuck can you believe ??? Anyhoo, get ready to kick out the daily jams with one of their best, The Hellacopters with 'Gotta get some Action - Now !!'
