TONY JOE WHITE "POLK SALAD ANNIE" . . . . THE KING, THE GRANDFATHER, THE ORIGINATOR OF SWAMP ROCK-BLUES . . . . THIS BLOKE INFLUENCED EVERYONE FROM CREEDENCE, THE GUN CLUB TO STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN . . . . SOUTHERN FRIED ULTRA COOL, WHO'S YOUR DADDY !!!!

HALF A CENTURY LATER AND THIS PROTOTYPICAL TRACK IS STILL AS AUTHENTIC AND ATMOSPHERICALLY SWATHED IN THE MISTS OF THE SWAMP AS IT WAS WHEN HE RELEASED IT . . . . RESONATING WITH A FEEL THAT WAS ENTIRELY HIS AND ONE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN BETTERED, EVEN ELVIS' VERSION SOUNDS FUCKIN ORDINARY WHEN COMPARED TO TONY JOE'S . . . .

I'm not sure how old he is but he ain't no spring chicken, point being is, he is still out there playing live, writing tunes and recording, I saw him about eight or so years ago at a blues festival and it was a stellar gig . . . . a real natural performer and story teller par excellence, so if you're ever given the opportunity, go and suck in some seriously salubrious, southern swamp style, 'Loosianna' never sounds so good as when Tony Joe White's steering the boat through the bayou . . . . OW-OOOOO!!!
