"1965 SHELBY GT350 R" [RMAUCTIONSINC] . . . . PINCHED THIS FROM 'LIFE TIME GEAR', SIMPLY COULDN'T RESIST . . . . TO ME, MUSTANGS ARE A BIT LIKE '57 CHEVS - LIKE ARSEHOLES, EVERBODY'S GOT ONE . . . . THEN THERE ARE THE 'HOT' ONES LIKE THIS IMPECCABLY CREDENTIALED GT350 R . . . . FROM BACK WHEN THEY WERE PURE, UNDILUTED, FACTORY KILLERS . . . . HELL YES, THE PONY CAR ON STEROIDS !!!

Straight off the showroom floor, well, special order book at least, the 289 Windsor small block spitting out 325 neddies, all the go very fucking fast goodies already on deck, ready to rock and roll, these were the duck's nuts of the Shelby stable, built to race and race hard, no restrictions, no government intervention and no huge dollar sign . . . . they were an absolute dynamite car for their day, they stood the racing world on its collective ear and would ultimately lead to the Trans Am series, a milestone release in every way and so far removed from any of the road going 'Stangs they were almost unrelated . . . .

As mentioned in Life Time Gear, this immaculate and provenance proven example went for a staggering $990,000.00 U.S recently at the RM Auctions hoedown, kinda obscene in some ways, but at least its gonna be preserved . . . . I just hope the new owner lets the pony have its head on the track every now and again . . . . just like good ol' Shell would have wanted it . . . . its only a car, you can always rebuild the fucker !!!!

  1. There you go, bringing back memories again. Once upon a time had a girlfriend living in Sherman Oaks Calif. Her ex-stunt woman mother had a GT-350 in the garage. Once when her parents were off in Mexico on vacation, she decided we would "steal" it for a joy ride. She let me drive, since I was handier with a clutch. What a fun car. I worried for years that her old man the police officer would find us out. Gotta wondee what happened to that car...
