THE DEFINITIVE AMERICAN WORKING MAN'S VEEHICKLE, THE PICK-UP TRUCK IS JUST SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO OWN AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE, A MODEL FROM THE LATE FORTIES TO THE LATE SIXTIES IS ABOUT THE DOG'S DANGLIES WHEN IT COMES TO HAULER HOLINESS . . . . THERE WAS A DECENT SMATTERING OF THE THINGS AT BRUNS ON THE SUNDAY, OBVIOUSLY THE BLUE OVAL WAS WELL REPRESENTED BUT THERE WERE ALSO SOME EXAMPLES FROM THE CHEVY/GM STABLE AND EVEN A COUPLE FROM THE 'CHRYSLER-CAR' GANG . . . . THESE ARE JUST A BRACE OF THOSE I REMEMBERED TO TAKE SOME PICS OF, MY PERSONAL FAVE BEING THE BLUE AND WHITE '55 IN THE THIRD SHOT DOWN, PRETTY DAMNED SWEET I THUNKED.
REAL COOL SHIT - REAL BIKES, REAL CARS, REAL TUNES . . . . AND A LI'L BIT OF REAL VITRIOLIC RANTING . . . . AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF OTHER COOL STUFF THAT GIVES ME THE HORN . . . . unless otherwise stated, all words, blurbs and drivel herein are entirely mine. I hope you dig it. All my personal photos can be enlarged by clicking on the image.

MORE SHOTS FROM THE BACK TO BRUNSWICK ROD AND CUSTOM SHOW - "PICKING ON THE PICK-UPS" . . . . I FIRMLY BELIEVE IT'S EVERY SELF RESPECTING, PETROL HEADED, GREASE LOVIN, MOTOR MOUTHIN BLOKE'S BIRTHRIGHT TO OWN A PICK-UP AT LEAST ONCE IN HIS LIFE . . . . I OWNED A '78 F-TRUCK EQUIPPED WITH A 351 CLEVO AND A MACK ROAD COMMANDER FRONT BAR BACK IN THE EARLY NINETIES . . . . NOBODY EVER TRIED TO MESS WITH YOU ON THE ROAD.

Loves me some pickups. I'm partial to the flat black Ford on top myself. Other than my first ride, a '72 Nova, and various cars for various wives, I've only owned pickups and bikes. My first truck was a '62 Chevy with the huge humps on the hood housing the turn signals, ugly as hell but pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteThe late seventies Fords (like the orange one pictured) had a problem with rusting out and the hood hinges would become separated from the body. I became adept at mounting a set of huge T-hinges on top. Looked pretty cool, but I always had to keep a length of 2x4 to prop up the hood for road repairs.
Nice collection of truck pics from the venerable Brunswick Heads area.
Got a nice little Nova coming up Herm, and yeah, the cancer in the later models of the day was a shocker, that and cascading water through the screen seal, ah, the joys of fogging up, broken door handles and armrests falling off, yep, love me an F-truck !!
DeleteI loves me some truuuuucks!!!

I'll just have get one of those new Honda's that looks like a Harley, only better. Don't worry about your spelling and punctuation man, I have my next door neighbour's little brother type everything on here.

ReplyDeleteTwo trucks I owned, that I miss the most, a 65 Ford with a 390, and a 62 Chev with a 235 six. The Ford was a monster, short bedded squirrelly thing. The Chev was more practical, nice long bed. Been thinking lately about getting my little toy Ranger pick up running again, just for hauling some bikes. Trucks are good.
ReplyDeleteTrucks are indeed good Laz, just ask my inbred friend from the above barely intelligible comments . . . c'mon Bubba, squeal like a pig !!!
