  1. slade were [and are] west midlander's mate, from wolverhampton, in the heart of the 'black country' so called because of the metal foundry's in the area, i have an affinity with our mercian neighbours that i cannot share with our east midland rivals a mere sixteen miles down the road, slade were a skinhead band, not skinhead racist but skinhead loving the west indian 'rudeboy' stylee, they dropped into the whole 'glam' period with gusto, but, took a lot of cues from the real skinhead culture of the day, short trousers revealing red or white sock's, high waist trouser's ,often in a prince of wales check, braces, doc marten high leg boot's, levi jacket's bleached out and top hat's in various styles, brilliant track and often overlooked, noddy holder has never adopted the west coast american accent and is a proud midlander, heard him on radio six recently talking about his memories of the northern soul club's, the twisted wheel, the catacomb's and the torch, fucking brilliant......

  2. You're a veritable gushing geyser, geezer if you want, of bloody knowledge Tim, it all rings true now looking at Dave Lea's [or was it Hill] mullet/skin/suedehead special . . . cheers for the lesson on the 'Black Country' history, it's always been amazing to me that with such close regional proximity there exists such intense local parochialism, unreal ! I wouldn't have figured they were from the aggro skin side of the fence . . great to hear Noddy's still got the local dialect going on, too many 'stars' adopt the bi-coastal accent all too fucking easily !!! Jesus love, you must've funned yourself silly as a young lad about town in the days before the wheel and electricity . . te he he . . . shit man, can't wait to see the finished result with #13, stroke of genius jagging the the number from Pauline . . . she was a girl from Birmingham and she lived in a tree, didn't she . . . or did I get that wrong too ??? Cheers buddy, stay lovely.
