Accidentally fell onto this tasty little tidbit on the PooTube while on the hunt for some totally unrelated material, but you know how it goes when you're locked into hunting mode frenzy . . . . this shrine to the Lowbrow/Weirdo Art scene and it's klose kousin, Kustom Kulture, is tucked away in a kosy alleyway in Australia's 'Garden State' of Victoria's kapital city, Melbourne, my birthplace by the way.
The 'Mexicans', [now there's a link to the previous posts], as we Queenslanders call the Vics, have always had a killer size bee in their bonnets about Melbourne being the 'kulture kapital' of this wide brown land, particularly when going toe to toe with Oz's biggest city, the Kockroach Kapital of 'steak and kidney', that'll be rhyming slang for Sydney . . . . frankly, I reckon they're right, old Melbourne town is to Aussie what the Big Apple is to to the U.S of A, [I hope nobody gets pissed at the analogy], the city is steeped in multicultural and social backgrounds, stuffed to the fucking gills with the best dining experiences in the country, home to all kinds of groovy galleries and a whole mess more. It's just a bloody kool burg to visit and there is a fully happening vibe to the place . . . .
The Kustom Lane Kaper looks to be definitely adding another string to the bow for the locals and visitors alike, artwork from the Weirdo kommunity, tattoo artists, pop art, 40's 50's and 60's iconography, bike and rod displays and a dynamic array of ever changing events within the funky confines of their space . . . . so, if you live in Melbourne or you're in town as a tourist or even on a business trip, get your arse in there and pop your peepers at Kustom Lane Gallery . . . . krazy kool !!!
