  1. My friend Jim Ward, who has a French moped planted in his cactus garden, related a tale to me about the time the local police were chasing a madman on a go kart by a place he was working, at the time. They watched, as he one by one, took off his cowboy boots and threw them to the side of the road. Apparently they were hindering his ability to work the clutch and go pedal of this apparently high performance go kart...which he was driving as if he had stolen it. After a couple passes the kart and the coppers disappeared down the road. After a suitable time, Jim went out and retrieved the boots. They fit perfectly and he still has them 40 some years later...
