HONDA CT110 - THE BIKES THEY COULDN'T ROOT, SHOOT OR ELECTROCUTE . . . . I'VE GOT A MASSIVE SOFTSPOT FOR BABY HONDAS . . . . NONE MORESO THAN THE ULTIMATELY UTILITARIAN CT110 . . . . THESE LITTLE FUCKERS ARE INDESTRUCTABLY BULLETPROOF, EVEN IDIOTPROOF . . . . AUSSIE POSTAL WORKERS FLOG THEM INTO THE GROUND ON A DAILY BASIS . . . . THEY JUST KEEP COMIN BACK FOR MORE !!!!

Being the proud, long-term owner of one of the coolest little four strokes ever made, a '68 Honda SS125, I carry a fairly big flame for all their baby bikes, step throughs, monkey bikes, the ungainly Dax, and especially the much maligned, pedestrian by design, CT110 and its wee brother, the CT90 . . . . my passionate love for these fugly wee beasts was only strengthened by my six year stint at Classic Bike Tune where we had the 'privilege', even though we all took the piss out of them, of servicing them for the Australia Post depot across the way . . . . clutch plates, cush drive rubbers, spokes and selector drums thingies were generally the only parts that needed replacing, despite the best attempts by their riders to kill the bastard things, totally fucking bombproof, rider, sixty to seventy kilo of mail . . . . yeah, bring it on humans . . . . I'll shove it up your sweaty arse, I am CT110, hear me roar !!!!
I've noticed a bunch of folk checking out the post I put up featuring one of Aussie Post's chopper elite stunt team doing a brilliant endo with full mail baggage on board and I figured I'd throw the above video up taken from a charity event out here exclusively for CT110's and their thrillseeking peddlers . . . . it takes place over approximately 1200 klms of moderately harsh terrain in the heartland of the Sunburnt Country, if ever there was a testament to just how tough the Flying Wing's ute bike really is, then this is that event . . . . some really good footage from the Go-Pro doodad on one of the entrant's lid as he hooks along quite nicely on his trusty Shetland desert sled in hot pursuit of fame and glory . . . . that cunning Soichiro Honda san, he sure got the concept nailed . . . . performance, reliability, ease of maintenance and, of course . . . . meeting the nicest people.
The second video is simply to show one of these tiny jiggers in pretty much 'as new' condition, in all its pristine glory, mind you, there's some mighty twisted stuff being perpetrated on these things around the world even as I tap away . . . . chopping, bobbing, speedfreaking, jumping, dirt tracking, all manner of shit that many other scoots would never be able to take on, not because they can't, simply because they're too cool for it . . . . that's right, I'm putting it out there . . . . bikes can think, bikes have egos, just like their owners, some are just too cool for posty school, remember 'The Car' and 'Christine' . . . . dodododo, dodododo, dodododo . . . . now you're catching my drift aren't ya . . . . weird, huh ????

  2. Too farkin funny Loveybrother . . . thanks for the backup mate, I didn't really wig out on the comment as such, it was, as you so succinctly put it, the anonymity of the thing from someone who's read one post out six hundred and fifty odd and clearly had no comprehension of how this little brown dog's thought processes work . . . or don't, as the case may be. No apologies required by you either me old mucker regarding the spit you had the other day . . . like I said, rules is rules, play the game accordingly. Love ya mate, and all the support troops as well. XX

  3. Oh yeah CT 90's, we called them the 'Deer hunter specials'in Calif. in the 60's. Almost had one for my first bike, my father thought we should get a pair of them for hunting...but I convinced him I needed to have something for the freeways, so I could get to work. All the 90 variants in both pushrod and OHC form were pretty cool, and still are. When my pop was over in Vietnam he'd talk about all the step through 90's he'd see. I should post some of the pics he took back then. I still have a later model CT 90, and also an earlier pushrod version. Lot's of memories about little Hondas. Old man Sochiro had a good design there, as witness all the countless clones worldwide these days... So, some anonymous lurker is talkin crap about 'Mericans or what? Making fun of our T.V. shows? Well, you just tell him Loveless and his 'posse' will deal with him toot sweet...
Is your 125 the little twin that came in a CB and a CL version? At least in the states they did. One of the guys I ran around with in High School had a lo-pipe street version that was a little rocket ship. It would keep up with the rest of us on our 175's.His had a Candy Blue body with a Silver tank. He beat that bike unmercifully, but it never broke. His big brother had the bike I lusted after. A Bonneville with a Rickman 8-valve top end conversion. Great vids of the wee Hondas.

  4. Larry, it's designation is 'SS', not the same as either the CB or CL, and is a SOHC configuration . . . initially they were quite gutless but it was rectified somewhat by the second series . . . gorgeous little thing, like a Singer sewing machine. Get some of those photos up mate, love to see em and as for the Rickman 8 valver, wow, rare as these days, down here they suffered pretty badly in the Aussie heat sadly . . . the anonymous dude was sledging me saying 'how could I remember those ads when they were American', and I'm an Aussie, just totally missed the point of the entire post, also suggested quite forcefully I should stick to writing about Australia as well . . . The vast majority of post WWII U.S 'cultural imperialism' has been the stuff that all our childhood dreams are based on mate, I'm one fierce supporter of Uncle Sam. Thanks for the posse support mate, too funny.
